Enriching Dog Daycare in Waynesville

Maple Tree Dog Camp was created to give dogs more than a place to pass the time. With thoughtfully designed play spaces, attentive Camp Counselors, enrichment, and opportunities for positive social interaction, the program gives dogs an engaging day built around movement, play, learning, and rest.

Camp With a Purpose

The idea for Maple Tree Dog Camp grew from a desire to create something more intentional than traditional dog daycare. Dr. Birthright’s childhood summers at camp inspired the concept: a place where dogs could have fun, build confidence, practice positive social behavior, and come home happily tired.

When the program was developed, Maple Tree consulted with canine behavior expert Kim Brophey on the physical design of the play spaces, the structure of the day, and training for Camp Counselors. That thoughtful foundation still shapes the experience today.

Dogs have access to supervised indoor and outdoor spaces where they can play, explore, cool off, or simply take a break. Camp also closes midday from 12:30-2:30 pm so dogs can rest while the team takes a scheduled break.

Finding the Right Fit

A successful camp experience starts with making sure group play is a good fit for each dog. Before joining Day Camp, prospective campers complete an interview that introduces them gradually to other dogs while the team evaluates their comfort, play style, and social skills. Dogs are then placed with a group suited to their size and play preferences.

Make Camp Their Own

Some dogs live for group play. Others enjoy an extra challenge or a little one-on-one attention. Maple Tree offers optional enrichment and training activities that can add variety to a camper’s day, including scent games, recall practice, platform training, individual playtime, confidence-building activities, and more.
